So I backed my machine up, instead of going forward in level 4 (wall of archers), just to see how big the world was. To my surprise, it's actually very large, but I also noticed, the archers will fire at you, even from many km's away. If archers could do that 1000+ years ago, there wouldn't have to have the invention of black powder, everyone would be fine with shooting at you, from another country, and hit their mark every single time.

This is working as intended but I will raise your point with the developers.

It did surprise me as well when I first discovered that, but it's pretty clear that it's for balance purposes, and not immersion. You (the player) are ALREADY the size of a building to these little guys, even when your machine is (relatively) small. If they could only shoot a realistic distance, you'd be practically touching them before they could fire.
But, Apocolyptus, if you're so worried about things being "realistic" for the time-period, why didn't you bring up the self-powered wheels that are as tall as a person, the magical springs, the spike that are 4x as tall as a person, the blades that are longer than a house, the magical power of the spinning-block, the giant spiked bombs that 3x as tall as a sheep.....etc, etc, etc
long story short I'd rather play a fun game than a game that is an "accurate representation of medieval technology".
The only thing I'd bother bringing up to the devs is that it would be nice for the archers to have some animation. The devs did a great job of getting the arrows to "spawn" exactly from the little bow the men are holding...but it's kind of weird to watch them stand like statues with their bows up, never having to reach for another arrow or draw the bow to fire.

I didn't have an issue with it at all, as far as realism goes. I just found it confusing is all ;P
