Anyone thought of anything gears add to the game yet? I can't think of anything they do that couldnt have been done before with the same number of parts and difficulty.

You can intermesh the gears - so a powered one drives an unpowered one. For example see this little buggy - only the centre gears are driven: This uses tank-style steering, and is symmetrical top to bottom, so if it flips over it can still be driven. I think it might be good for chasing sheep.

But you could do that with regular wheels. Having one drive the others doesn't make them any more in sync than having 6 driven wheels bound to the same button. Maybe if they added a chain that could be wrapped over the gears and have things attached to the ends. Or even better make them useful as pulleys such that a series of bigger and smaller ones can apply more torque by sacrificing speed.

Just wait. These will allow some cool things to be built. If we had gears of different sizes I could even make a transmission. Currently I've got some other plans, but one example is that now you can create an actual steering column, like in real cars. I might make an example later.

I was thinking purely efficiency, not reproduction. I just tinkered a bit with unique gear functionality. Second half of the video is probly more useful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmSfnQ3fcKg&feature=youtu.be
