In the editor mode, whenever i have a block or part selected and i click on the interface to select a new tool or part while the interface is overlaying the construction perimiter, the game places whatever i have selected. When i select a new block it places that block roughly in the place the option is in the menue. When i select a tool it places my last selected block in a seemingly random position. I think the problem is that wen you interract with the overlay menue, it still interracts with the construction area. When the menue is not over the construction zone this bug does not happen as it is an invalid block placement.
When your mouse cursor is on the menue it should not be interracting with the game world.
I hope this explenation was sufficient.

I forgot to mention that if i sellect a new tool, the game can somehow place a part outside of the construction cube, only when i try to move or ground the contraption does the placed part appear. This bug is easily recreated in free build mode, where it places parts anytime i select a new tool/block

I get this too. I'm constantly finding random bits on my machines.

This is why i always slide my view away from the bot when picking new parts or tools. If you just tap A, pick your part, and tap D the same length of time you pressed A, then you'll be right where you left off! (but yea I wish there was a hotkey for "undo")

There is: Ctrl-Z
Of course, it's not much use if you don't notice that you've placed a block in the first place.
