refer to 2nd post below below for the finalized stable flyers!
refer to 3rd post below for working mini swash plate flyer.
chinookbase1.bsg (22.22 KB) flies, but not too stable
chinookswashplate.bsg (21.63 KB) Failed attemp
Thoughts on game
saw this game on youtube and decided to give it a try. awesome i must say. i do wish that will be a toggle for camera mode like to follow 'exactly behind' the siege machine(especially when i was controlling the heli/chinook) or an introduction of a video block that gives a pilot perspective or a view down where i was aiming my bombs. i mean it can be limited to 1-4 camera max. and opens 4 small window at the bottom to see what's happening. a gyro block would be good too. but i do note tat this game is based on medieval technology but there's suspension!! lol. i want some water based levels where we can build ships! Or JUST LET US MAPS SOME KEYS ONTO OUR MOUSE?
Chinook Design
i started off trying to create a swash-plate for a helicopter. but i did it wrongly and only made a vectoring axel for the spinning bock, which isnt how a really swash plate work. and trying to vector a big spinning fan doesn't go too well with the gyroscopic force at work. so decieded to go simple and use flying blocks to help with all those. i cant seem to balance out the COM for a typical heli design so i went with a twin horizontal rotor design which gave me a lot more of a 'stable' flight. still working on variations of flying block placement for better control so i've only uploaded the base model. Have fun!
CONTROLS
collective pitch : arrow up & arrow down
pitch nose down : I
pitch nose up : K
roll left : U
roll right : O
yaw left : J
yaw right : L
release bombs : V
NOTES
only works on invincible mode
to be places on the ground for grabber to pick up bombs
i find it best to slowly press the arrow up until the wheels lifts very slowly off the ground.
and to keep countering the game aerodynamic physic by making small tabs on the roll & yaw controls.
