Depending on the direction of a wooden block it attaches to the blocks to the side or it doesn't.
This is not consistent. Sometimes they fall sometimes they don't.
I still have no idea how they are supposed to respond.
The same goes for Pistons. If it's surrounded by wooden blocks it often attaches to one of those making it impossible to expand.
But usually only áfter I load a save. When I try it the first time it usually works.
Sometimes you can force them loose and sometimes it just differs every time you press Play.
Like almost everything in this game, there's a lot of randomness here.
It also sometimes seems that when I force it open, the next time I press play it's working as I hope. This makes no sense because pressing Space to stop again should reset the state of all objects in the game right?
It seems like this is impossible, but it happens too often to ignore.
And sometimes it just stops working.
If you go here you can see all my bsg files.
The box*.bsg files are all boxes with hidden away canons. They all worked fine, even after loading and saving a couple of times. But when I tried them again half an hour later I don't think any of them still worked. I may have closed the game in the mean time.
And then I made this little quadcopter thing. Just trying out different configurations for the rotors to see which is more consistent and stable and this happened.
Wth?
Again you can download the file from the earlier link, I'm pretty sure this was q4.bsg
So what is going on here? There's little stress on the parts that are failing.
I have had similar problems in the past where parts didn't turn at the right speed, while they are not obstructed by other objects and they don't have to move heavy/many parts. They just crap out.
If I press play often enough I will get the chance to test it. But usually a random spinning block just craps out. Sometimes they respond like they were never attached to the wood.
(again video needs to be processed which will prob take a long time because YT put it on a queue)
(Which brings me to one more bug and then I'm done for now
Sometimes you put a mechanical piece on a block of wood and it just doesn't attach.
Replacing the mechanical part or the block often works...
An example of that is the steering.bsg that's also in my dropbox.
If you look at all wheels and try all arrow keys it's very likely that you will see 2 wheels somewhere that don't spin.
At least that's what kept happening here. Replacing them 5 times didn't help, but the odds of them failing did slowly improve.
I guess this was just random, because I fail to see any logic behind this.)
