First off, i apologize for posting a second topic so soon after posting one a few minutes ago (the one about self destructability...and no i'm not emo!). This is an idea i had a few days ago but didn't bother to post yet.
Hear me out:
What if the core block, which now functions solely as the starting point of your design, also was the only vital component of your machine?
What would this mean? The builder has to carefully think where he wants his place his core, as it will have to remain safe from harm caused both by his enemy and himself (accidental self immolation; being too close to a bomb when it goes off...etc).
Oh, and just because it's your source of life, i'm not suggesting that all parts must be attached to it to be functional. I absolutely love the idea that you can have separated contraptions, and that parts that break off are still controllable.
