Here's the little thing I made, but I have no idea how to make it steer. So now it just walks forward and burns things... but it's a scorpion walker with a flamethrower, which is nice.
Scorpion.bsg (9.28 KB) Controls: raise/lower body - arrow up/down walking - arrow left, right, left, right,... "stinger" movement - z,x flamethrower - c

the way i did it for my spider walker was using flight blocks to rotate it while walking, can't think of any better way sadly...

I made a 'tad improvement and removed its middle leg colum so it could turn. also you hotwired the keys wrong it was Y & Z to move the stinger. i however have modified it now to turn with a little different controls. So i present your amazing scorpion, my version. It has been modified with turning and wheels. i tried everything i could to make it move without wheels but it just didnt. i added in things, etc. hope you like it. took about an hour to make and i could have done a better job but, hey, its functional lol. But yes the wheels were a MUST otherwise it was too heavy to move. and i changed the hotkeys your style. next time though you should make the Keys either Numpad (8462) and (5) for special, Or yghj And bnm for special, those controls usually work for me but nice job lol, sorry my scorpion is a little tacky. Scorpion V2 EXEs.bsg (18.68 KB) CONTROLS; Numpad 7/6 = Right/left turning Numpad 8/2 =Wheels Forward/back Arrow keys = movement Z/X = Tail C = flamethrower. F = Fangs ` = Misc items WARNING, Controls are a bit wonky and armor falls off at times Oh and uh' controls are again a bit alien but they dont take long to get used to. 2 is forward 8 is backwards, & the left/right arrow keys now help turn lol and the very back could be changed to same movement pattern but thats if you want, i thought it might make it simple. i might've also bludgeoned a few things but eh. turning lol. anyways again, enjoy.

also you hotwired the keys wrong it was Y & Z to move the legs. yeah, well, it's because I have non-english keyboard, I have y and z switched, but it should be repaired now, thanks -- Your version looks really cool But I think that the controls on the numpad should be front-8,back-5,l/r-4/6 and when the wheels burn down, the walking is not working so well, because you kind of switched the directions of steering hinges.

I tried lol its a prototype i got my head wrapped up in school-work and i just thought i'd attempt to make this better. it could probably be repaired with a few simple hotkey fixes but im too tired and wore out to do so. good luck if you want to fix mine though lol, i'm just good at making simplistic deadly things like my catapult. A bit improved, more lightweight version. Now you have more control over the flamethrower using left ctrl/alt. And again, it is possible that the y and z button is switched due to my keyboard. But I still haven't figured out the steering without using wheels or flying stuff :/ Scorpionv2.bsg (6.34 KB)

it could be done with two (or maybe even one?) more steering hinges and a piston on each leg, then only activating the left pistons if you want to go right and the right ones to go left (if you don't know what i mean just disable all the right pistons and try walking). The biggest problem with this is that the extra pistons make the machine extremly unstable and unable to walk (you'd also have to reset the legs after turning and that could be a pain) :/

here's a picture trying to explain it
ok, if you set all the piston on your robot that extend when you press right to extend when you press + or something, you will turn right as you walk, that could be used to turn using only the robot "legs".. but you can't assign multiple buttons to the same piston/hinge (would make it pretty easy), instead you have to add extra hinges and pistons. the problem with this is that the robot becomes really unstable because of how pistons act, i had to use the tail to even be able to stand up for the screenshot i took...

Hi, I managed to make it turn, but just in on direction, by changing the controls : you need to control each side of the beast alone ! and just coordinate your moves. I used left/right for the right side and I/P for the left side. With this set: -forward : you press I and left together then O/right : I/left O/right I/left O/right -turn right ONLY : you just cross the controls so the sequence is like : I/right O/left I/right O/left This allow to turn but only right side .... Moreover, I lowered the rotation speed so the moves are more stable, and you need to stay like 1 second on each command to move Don't blame my english, but I hope I'm understandable ! Here is my set Scorpionv3.bsg (6.33 KB)
