Hello destructive fellows in arms! I am Tavish DG and because of the power of imgur I have bought this wonderful masterpiece of destruction and explosions! And I have not regretted my purchase since. I have seen countless works of war machines that will make every knight run in terror! (or stupidly run in front of it.)So I want to make a community building project to see how much you guys awesome at building stuff. So have you guys ever seen Pacific Rim? Of course you guys do! There were giant robots fighting colossi type aliens! In the intro they said that most of the parts consists of other countries contributing to each part to make one super powered robot! Well its kinda like this:Project ColossusHead:Chestpiece:Arms: -Left-RightHip:Legs:Any person can choose what part they want to work with and contribute into making into what we call The Besieger Colossus! This project is quite large. I'm talking 60 blocks tall. It must be bi-pedal like the Jaeger's. Here is a picture for scale. I wish everyone good luck!

600 blocks tall? wat ~50 seems more plausible Then it won't be Jaeger-like in Pacific Rim. Besides this might be a whole new challenge to see how much bigger everyone can make. Also its not 600 blocks sorry for the typo. It's 60 blocks.

Zeblote I believe the picture ~60 blocks tall... so he might have put an extra '0' onto the 600.. though I could be wrong. Need tavishdg to comment on this Nvm, he got this -Welcome to the forums by the way Tavish

Considering we haven't worked out how to make legs that lift far enough to step on knights just under their own weight, I think adding a full body may be premature. :v
My attempt at a biped build, using Praesumo's leg musculature design (easily the best current, large-scale leg design):
Not very good at locomotion yet, as you can see.

There should be other ways to make other Bi-Pedal legs. We just need to experiment. For now anyone can start making the head just for the base.

I guess I'll take a look once you've uploaded a scaffold file, but I don't have high hopes unless you have a novel idea for the legs. It's not easy.

Great idea, i tried to make a giant robot, but it's very hard. Maybe 60 blocks are too much, 15 for the legs and 15 for the chest could be better. Also the legs are the very problems (in addition to fps drop with big machines), maybe we could built arms and chest and waiting the last updates with new and more tech-blocks

Urm, I can't give you an exact number, but it's the build height... Which I *think* is about 500 blocks... But I could most defiantly be wrong.

I like the idea... But whoever is going to put all those parts together will have to rebuild all parts (except one). Or you'll have to let 1 guy build a leg, then let another guy add another leg, etc etc and you'll have to wait a lot.

Would you be able to edit the text file and add the parts in that way...? I mean that would be tough to do, but possible?

Maybe somebody should make a mod that could let us load multiple files at once (and make extra source blocks become wood or something)

Would you be able to edit the text file and add the parts in that way...? I mean that would be tough to do, but possible? I think it shold be possible... however unless everybody builds in a very specific way, it might become too difficult. Specifically, most parts would have to be built detached from the starting block. If for example, you built an arm, you'd have to pretend that the torso is already in place, and built it accordingly with respect to where you place the arm relative to the starting block. I hope that this is is somewhat understandable, otherwise ask and I'll try to explain it better. I think if everybody does that, it shouldn't be too difficult. I'm not entirely sure though. If anyone is interested in that, I might test it with a small build.
