I don't know for sure if this intentional or not, but the braces don't seem to hold anything up. The pistons I have set up pass straight through them. See included images.

Hi thegoldcrayon and welcome to the forums, I see the issue you are having here, is due to the braces not having a hitbox, this means that any objects are able to pass through the braces allowing for this sort of behaviour to occur. It is a fairly known issue, and is one that should probably not be in the game, however it does allow for some very sturdy catapult designs that allow you to shoot through the bracers.

God, I hope they don't give braces a hitbox.

God, I hope they don't give braces a hitbox. I feel as though if they are to make a change, they should make a poll on it and/or ask the community about it.

On the one hand it is wrong from the point of view of physics, because in fact, it is invisible, intangible, unbreakable bond line. On the other hand, it is very, very handy =) And I rly do not know how best. Just do not make me choose =)

That's not a "known issue", that's a feature On the physics side, it is an issue, however, I stated on a previous report with braces, that it is such a good 'issue' that it probably should be/is a feature, and if they consider it an issue, and are going to change it, they should ask the communities opinion as it is such a useful thing.

No way it's a feature! Fact that players find it convenient isn't enough to consider it valid imho. There are some benefits for sure, and lack of collisions is certainly important for some designs, but it's SOOO counterintuitive! I remember vividly my frustration when i tried to use the braces as a "rails" to support my sling and discovered that they go right through the wood, straight to the ground - it wasn't very helpful back then.
So i guess reasonable and somewhat realistic solution would be to add collision to braces in siege stage only, and leave current freedom in building mode (braces "sunk in" wood and stuff - like metal bars in concrete, so it wouldn't be *that* unrealistic). Although i feel kinda lonely on that proposal.

Oh there are defiantly great benefits to them having a hit box Arlekin it's just so many seem to enjoy the fact that it doesn't have one... I'm always one for middle ground though... but I am not sure if you would be able to have both using a toggle of some kind. It just makes so much more sense physically to have hit boxes for them, so I don't personally know whats going to happen... leave em' as they are, give them hit boxes, or some other solution. Any change thats made will result in some form of out cry from people who would have wanted them the other way, to which they were changed.

Yeah well, thats the downside of asking community :/ but what you gonna do ? <helpless>

Hmmm... but if you don't tell them and change it, they could get even more annoyed that it was changed on them all of a sudden... But I don't know, it's a very interesting position. Perhaps you are right, we are somewhat helpless xD
