The holder isn't very useful since when used with a high power catapult the item inside glitches through the holder in motion and just slips right out everytime. Bombs explode as they glitch through. I've created a very powerful catapult using gears and it doesn't work due to the bug that just makes whatever I put into the holder glitch through on launch. Here's a video of the bug: Design Download: gearpult.bsg (4.84 KB) Attachments:gearpult.bsg (4.84 KB)

Could you post a .bsg of this catapult? I'm interested in the POWAAAAH!

It's not too complex really. I made a video that shows what happens with the bug though. I'll edit it into the main post.

This is a bizarre issue. It would be most helpful if you are able to supply the download for the design. I wouldn't mind doing some testing with it, see if I might be able to narrow down the issue to anything, because I haven't encountered this issue yet. How to upload your designs. besiege.freeforums.net/thread/6/share-war-machines

Alright, so I had a play around with it, and i did come across what you were explaining with the design you had. As soon as you tried to fire it, the boulder would slip out of the holder, I also tried fire balls (because they were lighter) and they were also affected. I did notice however, that the arm of the catapult was also very flimsy, and when it fired, even on slow, the are would wobble a fair amount, this is where the projectile slipped out of the holder. What I did to resolve the issue somewhat, and now it is a steady arm, as well as frame, I am not seeing the issue anymore, apart from when there is an extreme sudden jitter (a very quick and short back and forth motion) I have attached the updated design for you to see this in effect. As you can see from the thumbnail itself, there is a fair bit of bracing, even after I just stiffened up the arm, I was able to solve the issue. However, when you tried to fire it just broke the machines frame xD So I had to brace that up as well... then I went a little over board with it. But my point still stands, once the arm is stiffened, and jitter is removed from the machine, the bug seems to be less present. gearpult2.bsg (6.98 KB)

Sometimes I forget how important proper bracing can be (or just flat out ignore it cause I'm lazy). I still think that it is an important bug for the devs to work out though, thing shouldn't slip right through the holder like that. If it came out of the top it would be fine, but through the bottom is weird.

No problem, yeah, it is almost quite essential for any good design However I do agree, a bugs a bug, and it should probably be fixed, although if its a minor thing, that could be avoided with bracing, it would bring it lower down on the list of bugs that need fixing.

Things slip through braces as well

Things slip through braces as well Indeed so! Which should also probably be addressed, although it allows for some strong and crazy designs

When I saw the video my first thought was braces, this needs braces! Which suburbansb already suggested and tested. Perfect. (suburbansb is everywhere, helping everyone with their problems. It's amazing) But still, I would've thought that the unbraced arm would break long before anything would bug through the holder. This is definitely something the devs should look into.
