After it was kindly pointed out to me by NubViking It seems, despite having the ability to 'explode' (I'm guessing more launch) the holder using the 'J' key it doesn't actually do that. I believe it should have similar properties to the 'decoupler' Where is 'shoots' itself away from what it is attached to. Recreation: Place a holder anywhere, use the key mapper, to determine it's use (in this case it's the key J). Start the stage, and press J. The holder does not 'decouple' more 'explode'. Even changing the key to something else, does this not work. Even with something in the holder, pressing the 'J' key does not do anything. It should be mentioned, that hovering over the block, it doesn't state that it has any particular special function. Only by using the key mapper, could this be determined. Now, I am not sure if the holder is intended to 'explode/decouple', but either way the holder is not working completely / not meant to be showing a key mapping for the holder.

I never realized the holder is supposed to work somewhat as a decoupler. It never worked for me either. And I do get the keymapper thingy.

I'm not sure if it's meant to either... though if you use the spanner thing on it, it shows as though it has the ability to do so.
