I have read the list of current suggestions, this one is very different and I believe more compatible with devs and players.
I know there is a lot of suggestions for fixed camera angles, however I belive this suggestion may help dev's and players with a bit more creativity. I want there to be a camera block that is weightless and only veiwable in build mode. The reasons for this is so that the player can choose which way the machine camera is facing and which side of the machine (if Asymmetrical). I think also having A toggle hotkey would provide useful to allow players to press any key only once instead of having them hold it. If the camera were a block it could even lead to multi quick camera movements allowing the player to maneuver in tight spaces much faster and easier. The free camera is fantastic, but during some situations a fixed camera can be extremely helpful. Please let me know what you think and any help would be my appreciated.
Please note I am hoping the camera block is the fixed center of the camera in third person view, not to be confused with first person perspective (however that would be interesting).

Yeah, i totally agree about that. Driving a flying engine with the free camera is really a pain, but for slow motion it's obviously marvellous !
About the "fixed camera" i'm thinking about something like a ghost bloc (no physicall interaction) which don't need to be handle by some physical bloc. something like a "ghosty-flying-bloc" which follow one bloc like the core for example. This can be better also if we can configure with the parameters tuning something like the vision fields and a parametre to smoother the ability of following because some vehicules move roughly and the camera can be very disagreeable if it follow EXACTLY the chosen bloc.
I also think we need to be able to configure the controle of the free camera in options in order be able to control the free and the locked camera. so when we are playing we can esily switch camera and don't superimposed the controls. Maybe also using more than 1 locked camera. For example a forward and backward camera to help driving, just need to switch by pressing a key.
(And the controls should be adjustable also because we don't all have QWERTY or all AZERTY keyboard ^^" it's a pain for me to move the free camera)

Hey. I bought this game last weekend and spent some time building stuff. This is one the things that is totally missing. A way to make the camera stick to the orientation and rotation angle of the "machine". It would allow the player to fly planes more easly. The current way makes it almost impossible to build a airplane because there is no easy way to debug it correctly. The other thing I would love was to remap the WASD keys, so we could use it for movement and not for camera. Bottom line: I really really love this "game" it reminds me of Minecraft when it came out, I was always checking the changelog to see what new features were added
