I saw a thread about this a couple days ago, but I can't seem to find it. I've got 6 blocks, but there is probably a better way with flying parts. Some levels are insanely slow, like archer's pass, but it can do it. I'd like to see other low block count designs, they're all pretty interesting. Here's a gif of how it works. ipsilon6blocks.bsg (708 B)

Oh damn. Thread 666. That's unlucky. Ignore this next bit, I linked someone here and am providing proof it's me.(ObliqueOvaloid)

kaz that is insane.
What's funny is i spent the last day trying to make the tiniest catapult, and then i find this thing and blow my mind. Because your machine counts as a catapult after all.
Very nicely done.
i have to say though, after playing it, it's rather tedious on a few of the missions.

Yeah, especially archer's pass, queens fodder and Solomon's flock, I suggest finding a tree or something and using it as a club to clean up soldiers and such. archer's pass is also much easier if you start by rolling the bomb into the bomb below the archers. Lyre hill and standing stone are also a pain in the butt because you have to slam the bomb onto the ground while it's still attached and hope it hits. I'm happy you tried it out, and I'd be willing to lend tips on any levels you get stuck on.

I only figured about the trick to get back on your wheels 40 minutes in and i definitely didn't think about using a tree trunk as a battering weapon.

Here's the thing that inspired the current version. I doubt i'd ever have came up with the club thing were it not for this. I thought the jumping was neat, and I wanted a little machine capable of a play-through, so I capitalized on it. I hate the sheep level now, but I think it's what really drove the thing into existence. EDIT: Gif broken, the machine was the same but /w a blade instead of a grabber.

When I was trying to cut down on parts, the bomb was on of three choices (items i put unattached by the machine) I had a knife, a flamethrower, and a bomb. It wasn't until much later on I figured out it was doable with just the bomb. EDIT: The gif seems to have broken, sorry. It's the same machine but instead of a grabber it's a metal blade.

Oh dear, what have we done? I think we should make sure the devteam never sees this or we may end up with a special "lazy challenge" to use no more than 5 blocks for all present and future levels. As a result, minimalists everywhere would be furiously tearing their hair and dying prematurely of old age. Anyway, this is a superb design. Very well done indeed!

Update: 5 blocks may be possible, but the machine is untested as it's really slow and quite the opposite of practical.

Does it have to be the same machine through all the levels, or just any machine that has at most that amount of blocks?

Same machine all levels. Moving the machine is a-ok, you just can't add or remove parts. Sorry for the late reply.
