I saw one or two roughly similar topics but none touched this point, they just seem interested in adding new pieces entirely (which I would love as well. Especially iron blocks. Steely machinations of death are wondereful)
One great frustration with the game is how fragile everything is. I would like to make a note here that I hope this is improved later on. The wooden beams have the durability of styrofoam while the stone walls are indestructible except by the lone explosive ball.
If would could be around two to tree times more durable than it is, that sounds about right. (While iron could be anywhere from four to ten, introducing new hazards to match. Corrosive elements would be great to target metal directly while having minimal effect on wood.) This also applies to the wooden buildings, they're very easy to take down if you just nick'em.

Good point, just FYI sturdiness of wooden beams was already improved (even in 0.0.3) so this is running issue.
