As title states it. I found myself easily maxing out the CPU's resource on one core alone when building something complex or heavy.
I noticed only one of my core was running 100% when entering in a simulation mode outside of the build. It does slow down as the more parts and complex design it gets.
Could it be done?

They're using Unity 4.5 which does not have multi-core support for the physics engine.
However, Unity 5 does (currently in beta, release candidate 1 is out to testers) and I assume they'll upgrade soon. That should speed up the physics engine by a lot.

That is good to know, thanks! Hope they'll upgrade when it's possible.

Note that "soon" has a different meaning here - it will take at least 1-2 months for Unity 5 to become released/usable and they might want to wait another month afterwards to have most of the bugs fixed.
