I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere on this forum that the game devs made cannons somewhat weak, because they basically replaced ballistas, catapults and trebuchets in real life warfare. So, in order to make it worth it to build siege machines they made the cannons as they are,

I think the only way to add more powerful cannons (that can take down brick walls and towers) without making all other self-made weapons obsolete, would be to have some sort of limitation on them, if, for example, they spawn without ammo, you have to actually load them with gunpowder and a cannonball before firing, which would require some building effort.

i don't mind the current power of the cannon in terms of damage and size. I wouldn't mind if it shot a bit further.
