I've seen one similar thread, but from its content i wasn't sure if it was the exact case im going to mention.
As in subject i think it would vastly expand our capabilities as builders if we could make macros to our machines. It could be done by writing sequence of keys (assigned by us to parts as it is possible now), or maybe created by selecting something from UI widget, or even recording it from keypresses (the latter would have the advantage of being able to include time each key is pressed - say for steering hinges and such).
My point is that if we could simplify some operations (say reloading catapult by pressing single button which in turn would operate a set of piston and stuff in proper order and timings) we would be able to create more complicated interfaces to smarter machines.
If there was already such thing mentioned / is planned, then im sorry to bother.
