I've watched several tanks already and made one using a hodge-podge of ideas. My main problem is stability and integrity (especially for the turret) while maintaining its minimal size. This is actually version 5 as I have gone through extensive remodels of the chassis.
[UPDATED] Chassis and Controls Modified Changes: * Changed Wood Blocks into Ballasts = less weight * Changed Armor Plates = less weight, better movement * Changed Controls = movement more responsive, easier to use * Changed Turret Axel = sturdier and more stable
Controls: Normal Tank: Numpad 8 = Go Forward Numpad 4/6 = Tap to turn left or right = Hold to rotate left or right = Hold both to go backwards
Turret Q / E = Rotation of Turret Numpad 7/9 = Vertical movement of Turret Numpad + = Fire Cannons Numpad * = Flamethrower
Siege Mode: Step 1: Press Numpad 2 to pop-out 1st set Step 2: Hold Numpad 1/3 to turn and align wheels (lifting the tank) Step 3: Press Numpad 0 to pop-out 2nd set *To revert to Tank Mode, just reverse these steps.

If it moves in that many ways, you will always have a stability and durability issue, I would suggest bracing it in any way but the size and number of pistons/powered blocks means bracing can't be used well. maybe a simpler version, one where integrity isn't a problem? Anyway, looks great and appeals to me. Great vehicle, keep at it.

Coming together quite nicely, especially the 'low recoil' shooting position. I think i would try to replace the steering hinges with steering blocks because they feel more solid. And maybe some feet with pistons at the back to cancel out the wobbling when it shoots. And a way to shoot explosives instead of cannons for more punch. But great job already! And maybe you know this game? 'Total annihilation', its old but has some very cool units, in 3d! Modders also made a lot of extra ones. You can find some inspiration here: www.tauniverse.com/Or in the later versions/mods of this game.

Bracing and counter-weighting together could help with the wobble. As suggested, the steering blocks offer good stability. May even want to try to fit in blocks.
10/10 on Starcraft flavor.

I really like your machine, however : - Lighter build ! Armour is stylish, but it's SOOO HEAVY ! - Forget about wooden blocks, use ballasts instead (mass x0.2). - Get rid off all of these contractable springs, they are useless. - Use 3 wheels (with just the middle one powered) instead of steering to make the turret spin. It's really stronger. Here is a modified example of your machine : siegetank2.bsg (14.32 KB)

Thanks for your input guys! I'm working on those ideas atm.
For the meantime, for reference, here is the video I mainly used as a basis for the moving parts. It explains
* the pop-out and sideways alignment of the front and back wheels * the pop-out and turning of the middle wheels * the movements of the armor parts in the middle * the movement of the cannon sides and center * the opening mechanism on the cannon motor

I only miss in this tank is a bomb to destroy walls, still 10/10 Yeah, I'm still working on that. I'm using (trying) instead to use a slingshot configuration to launch a bomb through a small turret. The alignment is a nightmare.

why wont it move walls please help me uhhh, what do you mean move walls? do you mean the body parts of the tank or actually moving the environment? movement controls are already mentioned above in the first post, and the morphing segments move on their own.

I wish people actually made things that work. Spawned it in, press play, instantly falls apart.
