Put a hinge on the block you've just created. We're almost there, keep up!
We are about to create a fully functional (moving, steering, blasting) catapult. There's no end to badassery now! Be warned, this baby is bad and isn't afraid to show it.
Just three things before we start:
- Before you start reading this tutorial, I suggest you read How To Build: Simple Steering Vehicle so you can properly comprehend the steering mechanics we are going to use.
- If this is getting too complicated for you (or you're simply lazy), feel free to download the awesome catapult and load it into your game. Click here to download.
- If you prefer a video version, go ahead and watch the video tutorial.

Alright, we're ready to go. Simple start, put a wooden base first (11x3).
Add some wheels on that bad boy.
Alright, time to do the key re-mapping, so we can steer around properly. Remember how it went? On top of the screen there's a wrench icon, click on it and hover over the RIGHT wheel, then click on it.
Same as before, set "forward" key to right arrow, and "reverse" to the left arrow key.
Exit the window and click on the LEFT wheel. For this one, set "forward" to the left arrow and "reverse" to the right one.
Alright, we can now steer around, awesome. Add the rear wheels and double all of them up. No need to re-map any keys this time.
We've got a giant moving and steering vehicle now - great! Unfortunately, it has no fire power. Fortunately, we're going to give it some. Put two wooden blocks on the left front size of the vehicle, and two on the right side.
Connect the newly created pillars by a single wooden block.
Put a hinge on the block you've just created. We're almost there, keep up!
Connect 3 wooden blocks on the hinge. The catapult is gaining shape!
Put the firepower on the end of the pillar we've just created (holder + bomb).
Connect the block below the holder with the pillars on the front of the catapult. Use contracting springs, we gon' launch stuff up soon. You could shoot now, but the catapult would probably break apart. It's fun to watch, but we're here to create a fully functional vehicle. Keep up.
On the front of the vehicle, just below the two pillars, put two wooden blocks.
Connect them (with braces) to the top of the pillars.
Finally, connect the two front-end pillars with a single block (on the top of them). You don't necessarily need to do this, but it's more stable and it will return the shooting mechanism back once it goes off.
It's done! If you want to, you can put a set of wheels in the middle of the vehicle, for more stability. Feel free to shoot it around!
Hint: if something starts to break, simply brace it together.
If you don't feel like building awesome catapults, you can just download and use it.
You just need to download it and put it into your game folder.

Nice, huh?
When I first started playing I was looking for a catapult tutorial and stumbled upon www.besiegeguides.com and found it very useful , so now I'm showing it to all of you. It's a very cool site, has a bunch of stuff already and is being updated daily. I contacted the admin about sharing this tutorial on the forum, and he was very cool with it. Obviously, I had to include the source. So here we are!
I hope you've enjoyed the tutorial and found it useful.
