This is, I believe, the most powerful explosives launcher in terms of blocks to power.
8-9 blocks + bomb (it can't fire boulders unfortunately, it tears itself apart due to the weight)

Ingredients:
attachment block (if needed, just need a free side)
3 steering hinges
3 two-size blocks (or 6 one-size or 2 two-size and a one-size or whatever you want. Experiment!)
Riser block (optional)
Holder
Bomb
Place a block on the surface you wish to attach the catapult, reinforce if needed (it will probably be needed if using wooden blocks)
On one side, attach a hinge with the arrow pointing towards the attachment block. Use the wrench icon to set the speed to 2x and rebind the key if wanted.
Attach a wooden beam (I have a decoupler and a one-piece here to drop it after use)
Attach another hinge (same direction) to the end of that wooden beam, set the speed to 2x and use the same keybind as the first hinge
Attach another wooden beam
Attach the final hinge, but this time flip the direction so it's pointing downwards. Set speed and keybind to match the other two hinges.
Attach the final wooden beam
On top of that wooden beam, attach a riser if wanted and place the holder on top of that.
Place the bomb or fire ball. Boulders are too heavy, as mentioned.
Hit play, click the key you chose and watch as the world around you crumbles. Now, if you hold down the key too long the arm will tear itself off and try to follow its best friend, the bomb.
That's fine, honestly. Resist the urge to brace the arms, the added weight will ensure they break every time. But, if you learn to time it just right, not only will the arm not detach but the bomb will fly even further. So far it can overshoot the windmill in the Sandbox.

If you release before that sweet spot, your bombs will fall closer. For most of the levels in the game so far, a gentle tap of the fire key is enough. Or you can back up before shooting.
And there you have it, a simple catapult you can attach to pretty much anything you've already built to give it some extra range.
