Ok all, if you didn't see my other post this is where you can use your creative skills to beat the other creative builders on this forum! I'm happy to upload the winning machine on my YouTube page. ------------------- Rules: 1. You have 1 week to create your machine, the 'decider' chooses the topic of the build on the Sunday, a new thread will be created for the week. 2. You must ensure that your machine works without 'invincible' on. 3. Submit your machine on the created thread with image and video, no download files at this stage so others can't re-engineer your design, also only one submission per person. 4. All machines have to be submitted by the Friday of that topic week. 5. The decider chooses his top 5 and a poll is created over the weekend for the forum to decide the winner. 6. The winner of that week becomes the decider for the topic next week. 7. There are no limitations on design or build. 8. There are no limitations on the topic for the week, it can be anything the decider wants. 9. The decider can enter the challenge but cannot win as they may have created a machine already and just decided to pick that topic. 10. After the topic week you may upload your machine file if you choose to. ------------------- This weeks topic is a: Chinook

Progress Report: Day 223. The secrets of a good helicopter continue to elude me, but I have made a recent breakthrough. By using absolutely no wood, I've been able to bypass the "ceiling" where all things freeze and break apart. I suspect the prototype I created is still climbing as we speak. The last bits of data we received from it was its altimeter breaking at its limits. Here is the last known picture of it, just before launch. We're getting closer to success. To The Moon.bsg (3.7 KB)

Well, it's not much, but it'll have to do. Here's my Chinook entry. Really wanted to get it to be able to fly, but even Chinooks in real life have to fly-by-wire help. So with the tools given, this is the best I could do. Packed it with explosive goodies just for kicks. Praesumos Chinook.bsg (39.52 KB)

To The Moon MkII.bsg (11.99 KB) I built this base on your design When you get higher and higher the wind became bigger and bigger, and eventually the Propellers will fall of.... I can't manage to go higher than that...

Wind? What wind? I've left "To The Moon" flying at 150% gamespeed for like ten minutes before... It never hit a ceiling or encountered any wind... Wind has to be scripted, and I'm fairly certain that the ice that hits you a couple hundred meters off the ground is the last thing they put in at any altitude. What are you talking about. Can you make a video of this wind?
EDIT: (slaps forehead) Ohhhh, you meant on your design. Umm, hate to break it to you, but that's not "wind". You just have an unstable design. Aero in this game is funny. The more you add that SHOULD stabilize the flyer, the less stable it becomes.

I don't know what causes it, but it happened.

Many Many thanks for Praesumo for unlocking the secrits behind propellors counterbalance issues. So my entry to this contest is all about functionality, i wanted to make a bi-rotory vehicle that can actually fly somewhat controlable. Somehow Not using wood increase inate stability of the chinook, i used saw blades and the new wing panels for more counter balance to the bobbing that will occur. for the rest you have to stabilise manually using the keys and numpad 1 and 3 go left and right and numpad 2 applies downforce. Sadly i could not create the actual mechanic of a chinook as it was horribly unstable to rotate the main rotors. have a screen shot Have a youtube!
