Hello!
EDIT: I am sorry, after posting this I read the full COMPILATION thread and found out some of the ideas posted here are already there, a few are not though so I will leave the post as it is, but I set the block ideas in bold for quick browsing.
First of all, congrats on the game, it's amazing and it has great potential.
I was looking at some siege engines drawings and pictures today, and thought of block ideas from them.
I'm sure you are looking at references too, of course, but just in case.
For example:
1 - Trebuchets have these boxes as counterweight which can be filled with as much stone or anything else you want so that you can correctly measure the counter. Is there a possibility to add such boxes as a block?, which with the edit tool will have an editable mass measure just like the ones for in the flight tab?
Also, the leather piece where the munition rests, is it possible to have something as flexible as that without having to attach a spring to a grabber? .
2 - Here are other examples.
- The battering rams most times had diagonal roofs. Is it possible to, at some point, be able to place blocks diagonally?
Maybe add planks as a block for thiner pieces.
- Then, looking at the onager to the right, I was thinking in a padding block. Yes, we have the suspension, but it's not the same and this is more age friendly.
- Now, looking at the dart throwing cart, I was thinking of rope, rope to use in ballistas and the like, or rubber.
The rope could be attached to gears or wheels like those shown in the picture on one end, and to a munition holder on the other; when the wheels go back, the holder goes back, and can then be released when the springs are triggered. Rope and chains would be inmensely useful.
I am pretty sure you can't make them so that they entwine around a block, but if it is, that would be amazing.
- Looking at the siege tower I really hope you will at some point add army fights (yours vs other), or stages where you have to transport them in safety and so on (while kindly killing everything on your path, of course).
Again, planks are diagonal from the bottom up.
-The second battering ram (lower) is doable at the moment, the only piece lacking would be the head, but the steel ball is enough in my opinion.
These are the ideas I wanted to share with you.
Thank you for reading and keep up with the great work you're doing!
