Hello,
I just bought this game, and I'm loving it and the idea so far. I'm impressed with how polished and well designed many parts of the game are, but a few things feel a little awkward. One that I have a suggestion for is camera control, specifically in building (non-simulation) mode:
I find myself frustrated trying to move freely and get the proper building angle when constructing my machine. The controls (WSAD + Right click mouse swiveling + middle click mouse panning) leave me feeling like I have to make multiple seperate movement steps to get my view where I want it instead of an easy fluid motion which results in less accuracy and having to adjust my view more. And I think there is a simple added control that could fix this: I played another game that had a similar building/construction mode where you have to move your 3rd person view around a model as you build (Robocraft was the game) and in addition to the "left/right/forward/back" translations of "a/d/w/s" they had a "up/down" that translated the camera absolutely up and down along the z axis (in that game they are mapped to "space/shift" respectively which is nice for use, but any mapping would do) this simple added dimension of control make a surprisingly large difference at making the camera navigation much more natural and intuitive and I think this game would benefit from this.
So in summary, in addition to the current camera controls in building mode (wsad/right click mouse/middle click mouse) i propose adding an absolute up/down translation control (as opposed to the relative translation of left/right/up/down of a/d/w/s which is relative to the current view direction). I've seen such controls in a similar game mapped to space/shift and that worked well.
ADDED NOTE: this other game did not have an equivalent panning control that middle mouse click currently does. But just having the added up/down control, I didn't miss panning. It really makes a big, good difference.
