This thread DOES NOT HAVE ANY BSGs in it.
Besiege is a fantastic game. Sometimes you may want something that's not ever going to be in the game but you want to try it anyway.
I have been doing this for a while:
besiege.freeforums.net/thread/515/all-cool-chickens-using-mavericks
besiege.freeforums.net/thread/576/flail-away
besiege.freeforums.net/thread/1569/size-matters
besiege.freeforums.net/thread/1890/paddlewheels
besiege.freeforums.net/thread/1893/moonshot <<<<< did not include the bsg. The video is below, I tried to delete the post.
All of these builds use some change to the bsg that you cannot do in-game.
I have been doing it the hard way and recently figured out a way for the general public.
Your saved machines are somewhere like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Besiege\Besiege_Data\SavedMachines
Here are some of the things you can change:
Flying block thrust direction and power
Balloon lifting ability
Powered blocks speed
as well as access blocks that are not used yet.
And you can also screw up in many more ways than you can get what you want. This is your last warning. I don't think you can hurt your game but you can destroy your builds. Really easily.
SO, make a simple build, say one flying block on the green block. Set it's flying speed to 1.06
The number is not important other than it needs to be unique. Save the file, name it test.bsg
Go to your SavedMachines directory and use a text editor and open test.bsg, I use notepad, and search and replace 1.05 with 20.05
You read it right, 1.05 not 1.06
When Besiege saves your file many of the numbers get changed by a very small amount. The 1.06 you put in is now saved as something like 1.052433556
When you replace just the 1.05 with 20 it becomes 20.052433556 in the bsg file. Or it might be saved as something like 1.066448756 originally. You just have to try the same number or one hundredth less.
Save your changes and reload the newly edited test.bsg in Besiege
Give the motor a try and tell me how it worked out.
The mavericks file above just cranked up the motor speed.
The flail changed a block number to one that had not been used. I do not recommend this, there are very few unused blocks and they are unused for a reason. Not much fun to be had there.
The size matters replaced the motor speed with a larger negative number. Say replaced 1.05 with -20.05
The paddlewheels upped the lifting power of the balloons, again setting them initially to 1.06 and then editing.
The moonshot uses one bad balloon, it was hard to get a build that would hold it in, had to keep weakening the balloon. Try a 400 power balloon. It's a bottle rocket. Try a 100 power balloon hooked to a block that is only connected to your build with a contractible spring.
Have fun, don't whine, don't EVER bug the devs. Use your imagination and plan well so you can change things one step at a time. Save often under new build names. Eat your carrots.
If you have a successful build that you post be sure please to reference this thread. Not for the recognition but so that other folks know the tricks and can make wonderful stuff.
